- A track section defines a section of track which a train may occupy. The method of detection is not important for simulation purposes (traditional track circuit, or axle counter) so does not need to be specified. A track section object in a CBI has one of two types: Normal or Combined. A Normal track section defines a standard track section that either detects a train or not. A Combined track section doesn't directly detect trains, but instead combines the inputs of multiple Normal track sections to form one single detection section. If one or more individual sections in a Combined track section is occupied then the whole Combined track section is deemed occupied. To prevent momentary lack of detection releasing routes or causing other undesired events, or short/fast trains clearing one section before occupying the next, a track section does not register as Clear immediately. There is a delay of 1-2 seconds typically before a section is deemed clear. Occupying a section is immediate, however.
