Approach Locked
- See Approach Locking.
Approach Locking
- If a Signal is manually cancelled, and a train is approaching, the Route is not immediately cancelled. Instead, a timer is started, where the route is cancelled after the timer's expiry if the train has not entered the route. A train that is Approach Locked is one that is currently running its Approach Locking timer. In North American parlance this is also known as "running time".
Latch
- A binary state object (true or false, or 1 or 0, or on or off) that has many uses.
Request
- A message sent to an interlocking to ask it to do something. The interlocking will only handle the request if it deems it safe to do so.
Route
- A defined pathway between two signals.
SSU
- Signal Stick Unsetting. Once a train passes a signal, this property is cleared, which prevents the signal from showing a proceed aspect to a second train without further intervention.
Stick
(Signals) - See SSU.
TISP
- Train In Section Proving. Determines that a train has correctly operated the track sections in a route, proving that a train is within a route, rather than isolated track section failures.
Track Section
- A section of track that detects the absence of trains within that section. The method of proving may be one of many forms of track circuit, or axle counter, or some other means.
